FRANCIS BACON
THE TIP ON AN ICEBERG

Francis Bacon (1909-1992) is one of the most representative painters of the 20th century.

Visitors can learn how Bacon used blurry, blended colors and powerful, dynamic strokes to portray indiscernible faces as if to expose the spiritual states hidden under faces of different people in the society.

The works are of significant meaning in the history of Western art because they provide valuable clues in clearing the misunderstanding that Bacon always painted by directly applying oil paints on the canvas. Through this exhibition, viewers can have deeper understanding of the creative mind and technique of such a unique artist. This is an important event for contemporary art, as it allows visitors to deeply investigate the Bacon’s idea on the human nature, that he was studying during his whole life.

Besides letting the public see and understand his art, the exhibition enables to get off the veil of mystery from Bacon’s drawings, almost unknown until recently.
